These are the 4 Manchester United players that have let Ole Gunnar Solskjaer down this season
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Over the previous two seasons, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been a defensive colossus. Wan-Bissaka compensates for his lacklustre attacking contributions with comfortable tackles and a keen sense of timing.
He does, however, have a tendency to get caught out of position now and then. This season has seen a significant increase in consistency. This season, his defensive work has been mediocre at best, and most days, it’s impossible to figure out what he’s doing in this Manchester United team.
Scott McTominay
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has repeatedly deployed his favoured double midfield pivot of Scott McTominay and Fred, dubbed ‘McFred’. The Old Trafford crowd believe that Fred is possibly more untouchable than McTominay, and rightly so.
This is due to the fact that Fred is the only player on the team who presses and pursues opposing players. This season, McTominay has been incredibly clumsy. Solskjaer has relied on him time and time again, but the Scot has let his manager down on several occasions.
Luke Shaw
In the 2020-21 season, Luke Shaw was one of Europe’s top left-backs. For Manchester United, he was a creative force down the left flank, and his driving runs were essential in the team’s attacking prowess. Shaw, on the other hand, has been a shell of his former self this season.
The 26-year-old has struggled in all of United’s important games so far, with his shocking lack of awareness costing them goals against Liverpool and Manchester City. This season, he has lost more duels than he has won, demonstrating his defense’s unreliability.
Harry Maguire
Harry Maguire, like Luke Shaw, was one of the top defenders in the Premier League last season. He was a force to be reckoned with in aerial combat and was adept at erecting barriers within the region. However, Maguire has allowed his flaws to take over this season, and he has been an embarrassment at the back of the defence.
The former Leicester City player is well-known for his ability to play with the ball in his hands. However, he has been abysmal in that department this season. He has spent far too much time in possession dithering, and he now appears to be Manchester United’s weak link when they try to play out from the back.
To make matters worse, Maguire is Manchester United’s captain. He was sent off in the stupidest fashion just as the Red Devils appeared to be staging a comeback against Watford after going 2-1 down.
