Starting on August 8, 2021 at 13:00 UTC, Liverpool will face Athletic Bilbao at Anfield stadium in Liverpool, England. The game is part of the Club Friendly Games tournament.
On Sunday afternoon, Athletic Bilbao will visit Anfield for a friendly match, which will be Liverpool’s penultimate match of the pre-season period.
Liverpool and Athletic Bilbao’s Past Game
On Thursday, Jurgen Klopp’s side defeated Bologna in two hour-long friendlies, while Athletic won 3-1 against Southampton 24 hours before travelling to Merseyside.
Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane put the Reds two goals up before the 15-minute mark in a comfortable 2-0 win, and two hours later, a new-look side scored a 14th-minute goal through Takumi Minamino before Divock Origi missed from 12 yards.
Klopp happy to see fans back in Anfield
Klopp was full of praise for his team’s efforts as they quickly recovered from a tense 4-3 loss to Hertha Berlin, and the Reds manager quickly turned his attention to the weekend, where he expects the “biggest atmosphere” at Anfield in the past 18 months.
Liverpool’s transfer window has been relatively quiet, but Klopp has a plethora of out-of-favour players looking for two final chances to impress, as the Reds will finish their pre-season against Osasuna the day after their match against Athletic.
