Egypt Team News
Egypt will be without Hamdi Fathi after the Al Ahly midfielder suffered an injury against Ivory Coast last Wednesday, which means Ayman Ashraf will make his second consecutive start.
Akram Tawfik, a 24-year-old Al Ahly teammate, is also out of contention for the Pharaohs after suffering a serious injury in the first game against Nigeria, forcing him to leave after just 11 minutes.
They will also have to make do without former West Bromwich Albion player Ahmed Hegazy, who was substituted at halftime against Morocco due to injury, with striker Trezeguet filling in.
Egypt is down to third-choice Mohamed Sobhy, who made his national team debut in the aforementioned game, after goalkeepers Mohamed El-Shenawy and Gabaski were both injured in their last two games.
Salah has either scored or helped three of the North Africans’ four goals, with his goal and assist against the Atlas Lions, and his presence will undoubtedly cause the Cameroon defence to consider.
Cameroon Team News
Aboubakar and Ekambi, who have scored or assisted on all of Cameroon’s 12 goals thus far, have been instrumental in their success and will undoubtedly play a key part on Thursday.
Aboubakar, who has six goals and one assist in the competition, also has one assist. The Olympique Lyon forward is one goal short of a hat trick, having scored five goals thus far.
While the combination has attracted our attention in attack, Collins Fai, Jean-Charles Castelletto, Michael Ngadeu, and Seattle Sounders’ Nouhou Tolo have been excellent on defence, and we expect them to start for the third game in a row.
Nicolas Moumie Ngamaleu and Andre Zambo Anguissa of Napoli have been ever-present for Cameroon in the middle of the park, appearing in all five games in the tournament, and we anticipate them to be charged with winning the midfield battle once more.
Possible Lineups
Cameroon possible starting XI:
