Gareth Southgate Is Uncertain About His Future as England Manager After the Euro 2024 Final

He believes it is ‘impossible’ to make a ‘logical’ decision at this point.

Southgate is pondering a potential exit from his role as England boss.

Gareth Southgate has been the England national team manager since 2016, leading them to the last-four stage of a major tournament three times and back-to-back European Championship finals.

Despite missing out on winning the title last time, the Three Lions aim to end their 58-year-long trophy drought in men’s football.

Southgate’s contract is set to expire at the end of the year, leading to speculation about his future as England boss.

Southgate’s focus is solely on creating history in the upcoming match against Spain, stating that he has been preparing the team for this game for the past two years.

“Emotionally it would be impossible for me to make a logical decision at the moment on any of that because my sole focus for two years has been winning this tournament.

“The last five or six weeks have been an absolute rollercoaster, so I don’t really know where I am with anything other than very focused on preparing the team for this game and determined to keep leading them in the way we have over the last month.”
