With little transfer activity off the pitch – at least in terms of incomings – Klopp’s focus has been solely on what is in front of him on the pitch, but Liverpool’s pre-season has been a mixed bag to say the least. The Reds drew 1-1 with Wacker Innsbruck and Stuttgart before beating Mainz 1-0, and they returned to the UK after an enthralling but ultimately demoralizing 4-3 defeat to Hertha Berlin.

In a pair of hour-long friendlies against Bologna, however, two different Liverpool XIs produced the goods, with Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane scoring in a 2-0 win for one Reds team and Takumi Minamino scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory two hours later.

Osasuna Results so far and Transfer News

Osasuna may have finished 11th in La Liga last season, but if their pre-season exploits are any indication, Jagoba Arrasate’s side has a top-half finish and possibly even a European charge in their sights.

The fact that Osasuna have won six consecutive pre-season games in their native Spain, the most recent of which saw them defeat Real Sociedad 3-1 in the Euskal Herriko Txapela on Friday, is no small feat.

Ante Budimir, a Croatian striker, scored twice on the day – either side of Willian Jose’s equaliser – before Jaume Grau’s 78th-minute goal ensured Osasuna kept their perfect pre-season record ahead of a daunting trip to Anfield.

While Budimir is one of only two permanent signings for Arrasate’s side in the summer window, the other is former Eibar striker Kike Garcia, who scored 12 La Liga goals for the now-Second Division side, so attack should be the best form of defence for an Osasuna side looking for a memorable top-half finish in the 2021-22 season.

Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Athletic Bilbao in La Liga on Sunday, putting an end to their winning streak. In a thrilling match, Diogo Jota of Portugal scored the opening goal in the 13th minute, but Alex Berenguer of Spain equalised in the 53rd minute to force a draw.

This comes after Liverpool’s disappointing 4-3 loss to Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga last Thursday. Liverpool has only won one of their last five games this season, drawing three times and losing once. As they prepare for their Premier League opener against Norwich on Saturday, Jürgen Klopp will be hoping his side can turn a corner in this game.
