Last season, Leicester won their first FA Cup title with a 1-0 win over Chelsea in the final on May 15, while Manchester City reclaimed the Premier League title from Liverpool by finishing 12 points clear of second-place Manchester United at the top of the table in 2020-21.
Guardiola wants to play the final well for Emilio Ballack
Emilio Ballack, the 18-year-old son of former Germany and Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack, died on Thursday.
According to police, the teen was involved in a quad-bike accident in the early hours of Thursday morning south of Lisbon.
Guardiola stated that he wanted to play “as well as possible” in the final and win it “to dedicate it” to Michael Ballack and his family.
“I’m going to play the Community Shield final tomorrow thinking about Michael Ballack’s son, Emilio Ballack,” the former Bayern Munich coach added. He was a family friend whom I met in Munich.
“An exceptional 18-year-old boy who was extremely well educated and tragically lost his life in a terrible accident in Portugal.”
Leicester City’s Form and Transfers
The 2020-21 season will go down in Leicester history as the Foxes won the FA Cup for the first time, but the Premier League season ended in disappointment, with the Foxes dropping out of the top four after a 4-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on the final day.
Brendan Rodgers’ side finished fifth last season, relegating them to the Europa League rather than the Champions League, which appeared to be a strong possibility for long periods of time.
Leicester have now reset for the new season, having played four friendlies this summer, losing the first two to Burton Albion and Wycombe Wanderers on July 24 and July 28, respectively, before drawing 3-3 with Queens Park Rangers last month.
However, the Foxes finished their preseason preparations with a 3-2 win over Villarreal on Wednesday, with Caglar Soyuncu, Harvey Barnes, and Ayoze Perez scoring.
This summer, Rodgers’ team has added Patson Daka, Boubakary Soumare, and Ryan Bertrand, with more signings expected before the transfer window closes.

Manchester City’s Form and Transfers
Man City, on the other hand, is attempting to win the Community Shield for the seventh time, having previously won it in 1937, 1968, 1972, 2012, 2018, and 2019.
Last season, the Citizens were too strong for the rest of the Premier League, and they will be looking to make the perfect start to the new season when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur on August 15, despite Harry Kane’s future still being up in the air.
Pep Guardiola’s side, who have signed Grealish on a £100 million deal from Aston Villa, have only played three pre-season games this summer, beginning with a 2-0 win over Preston North End on July 27 and then putting four unanswered goals past Barnsley last weekend.
After a 4-1 win over Blackpool on Tuesday, City will see Saturday’s match as a valuable warm-up for the new Premier League season. Kane remains a top target, and it will be fascinating to see if the Manchester giants can sign him before the window closes.
