Chelsea won a ruthless 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon to begin their Premier League season.
Any fears of a ‘continental hangover’ were allayed by a monstrously intense performance that will send Blues supporters home happy with the three points.
After a slow start, Marcos Alonso sparked the game into life with a spectacular free kick in the 27th minute. In the 40th minute, Christian Pulisic would add to the lead by bundling home a loose Mason Mount delivery.
Trevoh Chalobah had a day to remember, making his senior debut at the Bridge and etching himself into the club’s illustrious history with a ferocious effort in minute 58.
The game became a procession from there, as the Eagles failed to threaten and Chelsea took advantage of the opportunity to shake off some rust.
